TSMC prints +45%, the rotation pays the whole chain — and the bond coil leaks into the referee
The Midday 10 Mon, Aug 10, 2026 ~60 seconds 12:30 ET
A nearly flat index tape hides the busiest layer map in weeks: TSMC's monthly sales print anchors the demand side, the toll collectors and the software layer get paid, the crowded US semi wrappers fund it — and underneath, the Treasury coil leaks through its line two days before the CPI referees the whole arrangement. Energy leads the sector board on an oil rebound; the rate-sensitive sectors trade the bond leak.

THREAD TSMC — the demand side files its evidence
TSMASML
TSMC reported July revenue of NT$467.58 billion (about $14.5 billion), up 44.7% year on year — monthly sales are booked invoices, the hardest evidence class the AI demand story has. Europe traded the read-through immediately: ASML up more than 2%, Infineon and STMicro higher. The US listing sits at +0.6% — modest, but green on a day the semi wrappers are red.

THREAD The rotation — money moves along the chain, not out of it
Software and cloud opened weak and got bought: IGV and CLOU both near +2% after being down initially, with the hyperscalers leading the operate layer — MSFT +2.0%, AMZN +1.5%. The build-out wrappers fund it: SMH, SOXX and XSD all around −1%, and NVDA −1.5% — the single most crowded expression of the trade paying for the redistribution. This is the morning edition's own if-clause triggering: semis stalling while software holds is rotation, not retreat.

UP The Asian chokepoints — bid in US hours
Advantest and Tokyo Electron ADRs trade around +6% and ASE Technology +3.5% — American money confirming Tokyo's overnight reversal by buying the verification and packaging gates directly. Friday's silent selloff in the Asian AI hardware complex is now fully reversed across two sessions and two time zones, with Tokyo shut for Mountain Day tomorrow.
