Quiet index, violent sorting — memory rips, Cisco pays for its beat, and the bonds reclaim the floor

In this edition

The Midday 10 Thu, Aug 13, 2026 ~60 seconds 12:30 ET

A quiet day where it's usually loud, and loud where it's usually quiet: the indices drift (SPY +0.5%, QQQ +1.0%, VIX at 14.6, below 15), while under the surface the market runs the same sorting rule it ran overnight — the memory complex takes the whole top of the S&P leaderboard, the cleanest beat record on the docket takes the deepest cut, and the cool PPI finally does to the bond floor what CPI couldn't.

US midday, intraday quotes (delayed)

  1. Memory leads the S&P — Seoul's bid crosses the Pacific
  2. Cisco — the champion pays
  3. CoreWeave & Nebius — day-two retention passes
  4. Semis up big — but cap-weight is doing the lifting
  5. Sectors: InfoTech alone does the work
  6. IEF reclaims 93.17 — the PPI does it
  7. Dollar-yen — the third refusal
  8. Gold rejected at the round number
  9. The optics pair split after their prints — Lumentum paid, Coherent charged
  10. Applied Materials tonight — the anti-Coherent prints

The ten lines

  1. 1

UP Memory leads the S&P — Seoul's bid crosses the Pacific

    SNDK

The S&P leaderboard at midday is one trade: SanDisk +13.2%, Super Micro +10.1%, Western Digital +7.5%, Micron +5.4%, Seagate +4.1%. Hours after KOSPI closed +3.8% into a bull market on Samsung and SK Hynix, the same memory bid is running the US names — the tightest-priced corner of the capex layer being re-bought globally, exactly the rotation-not-exit read.

  2. 2

THREAD Cisco — the champion pays

    CSCO

CSCO trades −8.8% at ~113 and drifting toward −9, sold on the guide read despite the only 20-for-20 double record in our file extending to twenty-one. The reaction record was 5-0-5 going in; this is on track to be its deepest punishment ever, deeper than February's −10.2% three-day print. Coherent sits −4.4% alongside after its own eleventh straight beat. The week's sorting rule — pay the challengers, charge the champions — is closing its case in the cash session.

  4. 3

THREAD CoreWeave & Nebius — day-two retention passes

    CRWV

The season's paid prints kept failing on day two — these aren't: CRWV +2.8% at ~111 on top of yesterday's +19.3% close, NBIS +1.7% at ~264 on top of +34.1%, still far through the disclosed short entry near 212. Retention on this scale a day after the biggest paid reactions of the docket says repricing, not squeeze.

Today in line 11: what the memory leaderboard actually confirms about the rotation frame, why Cisco heading for its deepest-ever punishment on a perfect print is the sorting rule's closing argument, the verdicts the close writes tonight — IEF's reclaim, Cisco's day-one anchor, AMAT's record — and why the yen's third refusal still outranks the friendliest bond tape of the week.
