The referendum passes at midday — neoclouds vertical, semis re-bid, and the yen refuses to stand down

In this edition

The Midday 10 Wed, Aug 12, 2026 ~60 seconds 12:30 ET

CPI printed at the poll — +0.1% headline, 3.4% on the year, +0.2% core — and the tape took the dovish branch at full width: Nasdaq up, semis ripping, vol crushed further, and the neocloud bellwether pair holding gaps that were built overnight.

The in-line number bought everything except software, which is funding the semi re-bid for the second time this week. The two macro tells have split: the bond proxy is soft-reclaiming its broken floor while dollar-yen has round-tripped right back to the line it pressed this morning.

The ten lines

  1. 1

    UP Nebius Group

    NBIS

NBIS trades up 23.7% to ~239 by midday — through the much-publicised short position disclosed near 212 — on a quarter that was, by the columns, unremarkable: revenue $574.6M, +446% year over year and in line, every guidance line reiterated. An in-line print heading for what would be the largest payment in its seven-print record is the sector-derivative thesis writing its eighth row in real time: this name trades on the capex build-out, not its own income statement.

  2. 2

    UP CoreWeave

    CRWV

CRWV holds +17.9% at ~106.5 by midday — the gap-hold rule from this morning's scoring plan is passing its first session so far. After four straight double-digit post-print sell-offs, the most credit-flagged name on our tape is being paid through a CPI print for delivering growth on schedule. If it closes near here, the financing-window read graduates from overnight positioning to a session-confirmed repricing.

  3. Sector Engine Eleven sectors by four regions — the global rotation matrix Bloomberg keeps for institutions. Open the matrix →
  4. 3

    UP Lumentum

    LITE

LITE runs +13.1% to ~928 by midday after its 11th straight EPS beat and first billion-dollar quarter. The record's lump rule — reactions land at +16% or better, or −9% or worse, never in between — has its answer forming: the print-day session is climbing toward the paid lump, with the three-session scoring window open through Friday.

Today in line 11: why tonight's closes — not the midday gaps — write the record rows for Nebius and CoreWeave, what it means that the bond floor and the yen are now telling different stories about the same CPI print, and the discipline the lump rule demands of a +13% day one.
