Micron — moved 11% on average after its last ten reports; a record quarter left it flat
The Closelooknet read
Micron (NASDAQ: MU) is the stock that does not sit still after its numbers — until now. On our Print Record it moved 11.3% on average in the three sessions after each of its last ten reports and never once finished inside a 3% band: four times up by more than 3%, six times down, although it beat the earnings estimate every time. After a record fourth quarter it closed Wednesday unchanged at 1,065.11. The market is waiting, not judging: the verdict falls at Monday's close, 5 October — at 1,097.06 or higher the print was paid, below 1,033.16 it was sold, in between it stays flat, which would be a first on the card.
Where Micron stands among 85 chip stocks
Over the past month Micron gained 11.1%, 28th of the 85 chip stocks we track worldwide. Its memory peers in Seoul lag further behind: SK hynix rose 7.4% over the month and is still 39.2% below its June high, Samsung Electronics 4.5% and 25.9% below. Micron itself is 12.2% below its 25 June closing high of 1,213.56. If the Seoul names keep closing that gap faster than Micron, the memory trade is broadening; if Micron leads alone, it is narrowing.
