CFTC (US Commodity Futures Trading Commission)

The US regulator of derivatives and event contracts; its oversight is what makes Kalshi a legal domestic prediction market.

The CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) is the U.S. federal regulator of derivatives, futures, and event contracts. Its oversight is what allows Kalshi to operate event contracts legally onshore, distinguishing regulated venues from offshore alternatives. CFTC rulings on which event contracts are permissible directly shape the U.S. prediction-market landscape. See Prediction Markets 101.
